    Starting an Online Business?

    web entrepreneurship

Internet has revolutionized the way we live our lives and enabled an environment in which anyone can go up against the big companies.  But how easy can it be to start an online business?

Let´s consider some more about this issue.

First, we must identify the most common motivations that contribute to starting this kind of business.

    • Improve finances

    • Take own decisions

    • Not depend on a boss

    • Flexible hours

    • Work from home

It is possible to bring all these motivations together and start a business that can result in a lot of profit.  According to GEM (Global Entrepreneurship Μonitor), there is a global (it varies according to the region) 72.5% of success in this kind of entrepreneurship.  But there is a situation.

There is a wrong idea of what it means to be an entrepreneur.  Among myths and misunderstandings, it is: “I want to start an online business because I have been told that it is very easy and it takes no effort at all” or “I´ve heard that I have to invest very little money and do nothing or hardly anything”.

Taking those ideas as ¨correct¨ is the main reason why most entrepreneurs give up less than one year after they have started their own business.

The important thing to know is: in order to start an online business that can make one, two, three or ten thousand dollars a month, having a good motivation is not enough.  An entrepreneur must have discipline, must be willing to make a big effort, spend some free-time hours in the business, learn continuously, innovate, be creative, search for alternatives even with few resources and, for most cases, must be willing to invest.

Did you know? The word business: in old English bisignes (Northumbrian) "care, anxiety, occupation," from bisig "careful, anxious, busy, occupied, diligent" . Middle English sense of "state of being much occupied or engaged" (mid-14c.) is obsolete, replaced by busyness. In 1849, was the first attested in Thoreau, from busy (adj.) + -ness. A modern formation made necessary after business evolved away from busy.

Is it worth it all the effort?  It is up to you.  But be sure of one thing, for all kinds of business: Tuugo will be there to announce it!
